Questions
IS TREATMENT PAINFUL?
Your laser hair removal treatment at Lux Laser UK should not be painful.
It is normal to feel a 'pulling' or a 'needling' sensation, particularly as the laser hits the hair follicles.
Your practitioner will check in with you throughout treatment to assess your comfort levels & adjust accordingly.

Our laser hair removal machine is equipped with 'crystal freeze' cooling technology for your comfort.
If you feel pain or any sensations of heat during your treatment this should be communicated to the practitioner so that treatment settings can be adapted accordingly.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Most people achieve maximum* results in 6 sessions, with visible results from session 1.

Occasionally people need 1-2 additional sessions to catch any stragglers & achieve maximum results.
Others people, particularly those with hormonal conditions, may require ongoing maintenance treatments as new hair develops.

*Max results = 85-95% clearance.

IS IT SAFE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES?
All skin types, Fitzpatrick I-VI, can be treated with our laser hair removal machine.

For safety on darker skin tones we will start on a lower setting to ensure there is no damage to the skin. Consequently, an additional session may be required to achieve best results.

A note on hair types: White and grey hairs have no melanin so treatment would be ineffective & we are unable to procced.

It is possible to treat auburn hair (however treatment may be paused if the desired effects are not being seen), but it is not possible to treat Red hair. You are very welcome to message us with any questions.

As always, a patch test is required a minimum of 48 hours before treatment.

IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT?
Yes, laser hair removal is permanent.
There are however things to be mindful of when having laser hair removal.

Your hormones will effect hair growth. People with hormonal conditions (such as PCOS) will require additional sessions. You should also be mindful if you start/change your contraception or become pregnant that this will generate new hair growth.

During the laser hair removal treatment, we can only treat hairs in the active (anagen) growing phase, this is c. 20-30% of your hair at any one time.

Please be mindful that laser hair removal is designed for the thicker dark hair (legs, face, underarms, bikini etc.) and not the soft light downy hair.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED BY THE LASER?
Most areas can be treated with the Lux Laser UK hair removal machine.
Please note, for your safety we cannot treat areas such as the inner ear, nostrils & eyes.
We are also unable to treat over scars, moles & tattoos & skin conditions (e.g. psoriasis).

Feel free to message us if you have any questions. We will also discuss this in greater detail at the free patch test & consultation.

HOW DOES THE LASER HAIR REMOVAL MACHINE WORK?
During your treatment, the laser hair removal machine emits a targeted light energy beam that is absorbed by the melanin in your hair follicle.
The light energy is converted to heat energy. It heats to 70 degrees, which destroys the hair follicle permanently and prevents further growth.

Our machine is medical grade and is extensively tested for safety & effectiveness. With 2000w of power, it is one of the best bits of kit in the industry.

Throughout treatment, all clients will be required to wear safety glasses to protect their eyes.

Remember, a patch test must be completed 48 hours prior to your first treatment.
